Sainer Mural in Poland

ETAM Crew, who recently was part of the Like it. Art festival in Russia, is now in Poland! Sainer, one of the ETAM members, just painted another beauty in Lodz.

Filmed by one-media.pl, this video documents the entire Sainer mural painting process what’s great to see not just for all those being not familiar with mural art, but also for ever urban art enthusiast. Again, this mural is part of the fantastic Urban Forms project with its great aspiration:

In the end, within few years, a gallery of several dozen exhibits will be created. It will be possible to visit exhibits on foot within few hours. Considering the fact that location of the gallery is going to be a public space, we would like to make it attractive for each and every citizen of Lodz, not only for those directly connected to street art or with art in general.

Hope to see some more of Sainer’s and ETAM Crew’s works in future!

A Cantina by Estudio Nomada (restaurant and bar design)

The tree-like sculptures growing out of the tables in this canteen by Spanish architects Estudio Nomada are meant to remind diners of eating outdoors

The studio drew on the culture and traditions of Galicia in north-west Spain to design the museum shop and canteen for Peter Eisenman's Cidade da Cultura de Galicia.

The legs of the dining tables in the canteen area extend upwards to form stylised trees, which have an aluminium frame beneath the oak exterior and can incorporate additional lighting.

"The idea behind the trees was to evoke, through a contemporary language, the gatherings of people during rural summer festivities," Enrique de Santiago of Estudio Nomada. "To shelter from the sun these types of celebrations take place under trees' shade along long tables, so we designed the tables by elongating their feet into branches."

Strand installation by Stuart Haygarth

Combs, lighters and babies’ dummies are among the hundreds of objects found washed up on British beaches and then hung in the atrium of a new London cancer centre by designer Stuart Haygarth.

Called Strand, the artwork comprises hundreds of objects found during a 500-mile coastal walk from Gravesend in Kent to Land’s End in Cornwall.

The objects were categorised by colour and suspended from the hospital’s atrium as if exploding outwards, an approach that Haygarth has used before to makechandeliers from debris such as spectacle lenses and plastic bottles.

''The categories I found were toys, gloves, shoes, combs, buoys, disposable lighters, fibreglass from boats, brushes, floor vinyl, handles, balls, packaging, lids from containers, balls, artificial flowers, fishing equipment, spades, babies’ dummies, plastic buckets and wheels,” he said.

Dr Martens

"Once the genie had been let out of the bottle back in the 1960s, the vapours of Dr. Martens' rebellious spirit could not be contained and the boot seeped into every corner and crevice of youth culture." Dr Martens

1460 FOR LIFE

GOODYEAR WELTED
This is a Goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are sewn together, not merely glued, like many footwear constructions. This, together with our Z welt-stitch and heat-sealing process, makes it unique to Dr. Martens.

DHL SOLE
The original Dr. Martens air-cushioned sole, providing underfoot comfort and durability since 1960. It is oil- and fat-resistant, tough and offers good abrasion and slip resistance.

SMOOTH HARDLIFE
This is a full-grain leather with a smooth, waxy finish, treated to be water-resistant and have a longer wearing life.

ADAM LEVINE TATTOOS

Adam Levine and his many tattoos cover the September issue of INKED, the tattoo mag. Levine is so much more than a singer of a pop rock band these days, with his role as a coach on ‘The Voice‘ and as characters in ‘American Horror Story’ and in ‘Can a Song Save Your Life?.’ He is heavily inked and he shows off his body art in this cool spread. BUT What is the meaning of every tattoo Adam Levine has?

222 – The 222 on his forearm represents the number on the door of the very first studio that Maroon 5 ever recorded in.

Paw Print – One of the favorite Adam Levine tattoos by animal lovers is the paw print on the back of his right shoulder that says Frankie Girl underneath it. Frankie just happens to be his beautiful Golden Retriever.

Script – There is a tattoo written in either Hindi or Sanskrit on the left side of his chest that has been hard to get a photo of but it is believed to say Maroon 5.

Los Angeles – Next on the list of Adam Levine tattoos are the words Los Angeles written in cursive on his upper right bicep, close to his shoulder. Levine was born in this city and is simply showing tribute to his hometown.

X – On the side of Levine’s left bicep is a large X, the Roman numeral representing the number 10. He got this tattoo as recognition of the 10 year anniversary that Maroon 5 had been together.

Guitar – Many fans will say that their favorite piece on the list of Adam Levine tattoos is the guitar on the underpart of his left forearm. It is detailed and perfectly placed so when he holds the microphone, everyone can see it.

Dove and Cherry Blossoms – On Levine’s left shoulder is a really gorgeous piece full of doves and cherry blossoms that he had done after the tragic events of 9/11 as a remembrance of all the lives that were lost.

Shark – Next on the list of Adam Levine tattoos is a shark on his ribcage that has something to do with a nickname but interestingly, sharks are one of his biggest fears.

CHANEL SPRING/SUMMER 2013 COLLECTION

Chanel unveiled their Spring/Summer 2013 collection amongst bright white wind turbines, which lined the entire length of the Paris Fashion Week catwalk. Because of this, the press were expecting an eco-friendly inspired collection, but when questioned after the show head designer Karl Lagerfeld said "It's more about the mood of the times, not something you have to translate, it's all about the wind, it's in the air."

Featuring a vast array of ginormous pearl necklaces, the collection was surprisingly simple and elegant with classically cut dresses, cropped jackets, and skirts paired with huge contemporary hats and a rather strange hula hoop bag.

Invisible Bookend by Paul Cocksedge

Invisible Bookend created by Paul Cocksedge, is a freestanding object made of metal, but the designer gave no further clue to how it works.

The Invisible Bookend:

Is a lightweight object that requires no mechanical fitting. It easily holds more than a meter and a half’s length of books, of all sizes.

“I wanted to discover if other people would enjoy as much as I do seeing books displayed without any other object to distract attention from them. This is a design which is not about appearance, only function. That’s the beauty of it.”

“would you want to own something, when all you can see is what it does, not what it is?” That’s the question designer Paul Cocksedge is asking with his Invisible Bookends. As you can see in the pictures above, the bookends are as invisible as they claim to be. There are only photos of the bookends in action, and not a single picture of the actual product. That’s mainly because the designer wants to know, will you still buy this bookend even though you can’t see what you’re really buying? The bookends are available for purchase at the designer’s website, here to buy .

Cardboard Bicycle by Izhar Gafni

Israeli engineer and systems developer Izhar Gafni has invented a cardboard bicycle that’s strong, waterproof and costs less than £10 to manufacture (+ movie).

Izhar Gafni started developing the Cardboard Bicycle three years ago. “Since there was no know-how with regards to the cardboard material, the first two years were devoted to learning the properties and behaviour of the material,” explains Gafni.

“The idea is like Japanese origami,” he says in the movie. “You fold it once and then it doesn’t become twice the strength, it’s almost three times the strength. So I took it from there and did the same thing with cardboard.”

After the shape has been cut out, the cardboard is treated with a waterproof and fireproof coating specially created by Gafni, before lacquer paint is applied over the top.
